The Okanagan Sun showed why they’re the defending CJFL National champions last night (Saturday), dominating the Prince George Kodiaks 74-14.
The Kodiaks made it interesting for a quarter in front of a sellout crowd at Masich Place Stadium, holding the Sun to just two points in the first frame.
The two teams traded possession on turnovers on four consecutive plays, which eventually to the Sun scoring their first touchdown of the night on a quarterback sneak.
On the ensuing kickoff, the return was fumbled by the Kodiaks and recovered by the Sun, and the offensive onslaught started.
The Sun found the end zone three more times in the first half, once through the air and twice on the ground.
They also added a field goal.
For a moment it looked like the Kodiaks were gaining momentum, when Andrew Brown brought in a Kayle Cowley pass with one hand at the one-yard line.
Cowley found the end zone on a sneak right after.
The onslaught continued in the second half as the Sun scored 41 points in the second half.
The Kodiaks found the end zone once in the second half, when the Kodiaks scooped up a fumbled Sun option play and took it all the way.
The Kodiaks (2-6) will play the Sun (6-1) again next weekend in Kelowna.
