WHL:

Prince George Cougars  7  Medicine Hat Tigers  5  (Sunday)

Defenceman Bauer Dumanski snapped a 5-5 tie by blasting his first goal of the season which came with 1:17 remaining in the third period to the delight of a season-high crowd of 5,628 at CN Centre.

First-star Riley Heidt had the WHL highlight of the night goal and added four assists for the 9-3 Cougars.

The mega 50-50 jackpot on Community Heroes Weekend was just over a whopping $160,000.

The Cougars play their next five on the road, all in the East Division, starting Saturday in Moose Jaw.

The next home game for P.G. will be on Friday, November 10th against Red Deer.

Sniper Zac Funk tallied five points (3G, 2A) for the Cougars who scored four unanswered goals in the first period before 4,516 fans at CN Centre.

The 2-3-3 Spruce Kings play their next two games at the BCHL Showcase in Seattle against (3-6) Powell River on Wednesday (10:50 AM) and vs. (5-4-1) Nanaimo on Thursday (4:50 PM).

The Spruce Kings’ next home game isn’t until November 10th against West Kelowna.

The Eagles have the best record in the league at 6-1 (alongside Kansas City) while the Dolphins fell to 5-2.

CFL: 

Craig Dickenson is out as head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The team announced it would not renew his contract following a 6-12 non-playoff season that ended on a seven-game losing streak.

The Riders have renewed the contract of general manager Jeremy O’Day.

The CFL has three games left in the regular season but all playoff spots have been decided.

The (12-6) B.C. Lions are idle until they host the (6-11) Calgary Stampeders in the Western Semi-Final on Saturday, November 4th (3:30 PT).

The winner will play the (13-4) Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final on Saturday, November 11th (3:30 PT).

The Blue Bombers visit Calgary Friday night (6:00 PT) with nothing on the line.

In the East, the semifinal on November 4th (Noon PT) will feature the (8-9) Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the (10-7) Montreal Alouettes.

Those same two teams meet Saturday in Montreal (1:00 PM PT) followed by (15-2) Toronto at (4-13) Ottawa (4:00) in the last regular season game.

The Argos host the East Final on November 11th (Noon PT).
