Prince George City Council will hear a presentation on a potential Council Code of Conduct Bylaw.
The presentation will be made at tomorrow’s (Monday) meeting.
City administration is recommending a bylaw, saying it provides more certainty and is more enforceable than a policy.
According to a report prepared by City Manager Walter Babicz, the proposed bylaw sets out complaint and resolution procedures and includes several sanctions that may be imposed for a breach of the Bylaw.
This includes the possibility of reduced remuneration imposed by council if one of its members contravenes the bylaw in certain circumstances.
In April, council voted to have administration review the existing Council Code of Conduct Policy, which was established in 2013.
There have been no amendments to the policy since it was adopted.
Council will vote to give first three readings of the bylaw tomorrow.
Other items on tomorrow’s agenda include the possibility of “opting-out” of the province’s Short-Term Accommodation Act, and a pair of delegations from UNBC Environmental Classes.
