WHL:

Everett Silvertips  5  Prince George Cougars  2

The loss ended the Cougars’ six-game road winning streak.

The Silvertips erased a 1-0 deficit by scoring three goals in the second period and two more in the third (with the last one into an empty net).

Everett outshot Prince George 37-27.

The (22-9) Cougars visit the (20-10-3) Wenatchee Wild on Friday and the (11-17-2) Vancouver Giants on Saturday.

–Defenceman Tanner Molendyk of McBride, who plays with the Saskatoon Blades, is one of eight WHL players selected to play for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship that begins Boxing Day in Sweden.

BCHL:

The (8-14-3) Prince George Spruce Kings will have a full house when they host the (10-10-6) Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday night at 7:00.

It is Drop the Gloves and Sock it to Em Night.

The same teams will also play on Saturday at 6 PM at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

The Spruce Kings are last in the 8-team Interior Division, five points behind the 7th place (10-13-3-1) Merritt Centennials, six back of the (12-14-1) Cranbrook Bucks and seven behind Trail.

The (19-9-1) Vancouver Canucks conclude a 5-game homestand tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 against the (17-9-2) Florida Panthers.

It is one of eight Thursday games in the NHL. In other action involving Canadian teams, the (13-12-1) Edmonton Oilers put an 8-game winning streak on the line when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning, Calgary is at Minnesota, Columbus visits Toronto and Ottawa plays in St. Louis.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (16-3-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars are on the road this weekend.

They visit the (11-7-1-1) Valley West Giants on Saturday at 4:45 PM in Delta and Sunday at 11:15 AM in Langley in their final two league games in 2023.

The U18 Cougars are in first place in the 9-team BC Elite Hockey League, a point ahead of the (15-3-0-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs.
