WHL:

The (22-9) Prince George Cougars visit the (20-10-3) Wenatchee Wild tonight (Friday) and the (11-17-2) Vancouver Giants on Saturday.

The Cougars began their 3-game, 4-day road trip with a 5-2 loss to Everett on Wednesday.

BCHL:

The (8-14-3) Prince George Spruce Kings will play before a standing-room-only crowd when they host the (10-10-6) Trail Smoke Eaters tonight at 7:00.

It is Drop the Gloves and Sock it to Em Night.

The same teams will also play on Saturday at 6 PM at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

The Spruce Kings are last in the 8-team Interior Division, five points behind the 7th place (10-13-3-1) Merritt Centennials, six back of the (12-14-1) Cranbrook Bucks and seven behind Trail.

Thatcher Demko made 36 saves for the shutout to help Vancouver up its winning streak to four games. The Canucks have a record of 20-9-1 after 30 games and will begin a 4-game road trip Saturday (11 AM) against the (11-12-4) Wild in Minnesota.

Steven Stamkos scored four goals for Tampa as the Lightning ended the Oilers 8-game winning streak.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The (16-3-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (11-7-1-1) Valley West Giants on Saturday at 4:45 PM in Delta and Sunday at 11:15 AM in Langley in their final two league games in 2023.

The U18 Cougars are in first place in the 9-team BC Elite Hockey League, a point ahead of the (15-3-0-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs.

NFL: (Week 15)

Las Vegas Raiders  63  LA Chargers  21

The (6-8) Raiders led 42-0 at the half.

After the game, the Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco. Giff Smith, the Chargers outside linebackers coach, has taken over as interim head coach. JoJo Wooden, the team’s director of player personnel, is now taking on the GM role on an interim basis.
