Prince George nearing all-time temperature highs this Christmas season

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas… in July.

With no snow or rain on the horizon, it looks like Prince George will indeed be having a green Christmas, with the lowest overnight temperatures only hitting -8 between today (Saturday) and Thursday.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Philippe-Alain Bergeron told My PG Now the area could be flirting with some all-time temperature records later in the week.

“We are expecting sunny and 5 degrees on Tuesday (December 26) and a mix of sun and cloud and 7 degrees on Wednesday (December 27),” he said, explaining the all-time boxing day high is eight degrees set in 1991.

“The highest temperature recorded on [December 27th] was 7.7 degrees in 1980, so we are coming within fractions of a degree for a daily record, it is definitely a possibility,” he said.

While it will be a green Christmas, Bergeron said the upside will be easier travel conditions on city streets and highways through the week.
