Comeback bid falls short for Spruce Kings

A pair of third period gave the Spruce Kings hope, but their comeback bid ultimately fell short in a 5-3 loss to the Vernon Vipers.

The Vipers jumped out held a 3-0 lead midway through the second, before Alexis Cournoyer got the Spruce Kings on the board with a powerplay marker.

The Vipers scored one more in the final minute of the second.

The Spruce Kings were not down and out, as JR Perdion and Kilian McGregor-Bennett (PP) each scored to bring the Spruce Kings within one.

Julian Facchinelli slid the puck into the empty Spruce Kings net to solidify the 5-3 win for Vernon.

Charlie Zolin got the start between the pipes for the Spruce Kings, stopping 38 of 42 shots.
