Parks, washrooms, and outhouses to begin re-opening in Prince George

The City of Prince George is shifting into spring, parks and outdoor public washrooms will begin to reopen as the snow continues to melt.

According to the city, here is a timeline for when residents can expect certain parks to open to the public:

  • Jumpstart Multisport Courts – opened as of yesterday, March 19, 2024
  • Carrie Jane Gray Park – Gates to the ball diamonds to be opened April 2, 2024.
  • Connaught Hill Park -Planned opening for mid-April – weather dependent.
  • Nechako Riverside Park – Opening the gates tomorrow, Thursday, March 21, 2024.
  • Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park Spray Park – May 17, 2024. Weather dependent.
  • Beach Volleyball Facility (Carrie Jane Gray Park) – Opening April 2, 2024. Weather dependent.

Washrooms at Carrie Jane Gray and at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park are both under renovations.

The renovations are budgeted at $500,000, carried forward from the 2023 budget.

Both are expected to be completed by mid-April, and portapotties will be set up at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park in that washroom’s absence.

Masich Place Stadium will reopen for public walking on April 2nd.

Other outhouses and water fountains in parks and public spaces around town will become available as the weather allows.
