New city manager in Vanderhoof

Big changes at City Hall in the District of Vanderhoof.

City Manager Evan Parliament is out the door, with the current Director of Community Development Tom Clement taking on the role.

Mayor Gerry Thiessen wouldn’t elaborate on the reason or circumstances of Parliament’s departure, saying he is looking forward to the future.

“Mr Clement has been in the District office here since 2008. He has some strong collaboration and leadership skills and we are pretty excited about where we are going with the community and the opportunities that we have here.” Thiessen said

As far as what kind of severance package Parliament will be owed and it’s hit on taxpayers, Thiessen says that hasn’t been worked out yet.

“At this point that hasn’t been fully looked at. So we will wait as time goes on and just understand where those implications lead us.”

Thiessen says he and the District wish Parliament the very best in his future endeavours.

Tom Clement will be taking an Oath of Office at the next Vanderhoof council meeting on Aug 24th.

Lori Egli has also been appointed to Deputy Corporate Officer.
