Two people charged in large Quesnel drug bust headed to trial

A trial date has been set for two of three people charged in connection with one of the largest drug seizures in Quesnel’s history.

33-year old Kyle Campbell and 60-year old Christopher Sutton are scheduled to go to trial on October 24th.

Campbell is charged with one count each of trafficking a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and careless storage of a firearm, while Sutton is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit wrapped up an investigation back in August of 2022 with the arrest of a suspect in a commercial parking lot off Newman Road.

RCMP say search warrants were executed on Ash Street, Eagle Road, and Pollard Road.

Police say it resulted in the seizure of just under 5 kilograms of cocaine, $92,000 cash, and 15 firearms.

A third person charged in this case, 21-year old James Dano, is due back in court on April 16th for an arraignment hearing.
