“It’s been a tough go since we re-opened,”: Exploration Place CEO

Exploration Place CEO Tracy Calogheros is relieved the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George will be providing the museum a 500-thousand dollar loan.

The decision was made final during a board meeting yesterday (Thursday).

Calogheros told MyPGNow.com the museum has a revenue problem not an expense problem.

“Really, what we need to do is use that money to buy us a little bit more time and runway to get our programs up and functioning at full swing. It’s been a tough go since we re-opened in 2022.”

“They have (the Regional District) looked ahead and seen the value arts, culture and, heritage bring into our community and they are truly an essential partner in offering up the kind of services the Exploration Place do offer.”

She added the delay in re-opening to October of 2022 cost them 500 grand in projected revenue, a hole they have been trying to dig out of ever since.

The loan is to be repaid over five years at a 4% interest rate.
