Portland Winterhawks  5  Prince George Cougars  2

The Winterhawks built up period leads of 2-0 and 3-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Final.

Nate Danielsson, a first-round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings, led the way again for the Winterhawks with a goal and three assists.

Danielsson has 10 points in the last three games (one goal and nine assists).

Cougars Captain Hudson Thornton had both the P.G. goals on the power play.

Game 5 will be played tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 in Portland and the Cougars will need a win to send the series back to Prince George for a 6th game on Monday.

The Cougars have lost three in a row for the first time this season.

In the WHL Eastern Conference, Saskatoon beat Moose Jaw 5-4 in overtime to tie the series 2-2.

Mark Lamb of the Prince George Cougars has been named both the WHL Coach and Executive of the Year for the 2023-24 season.

It is the first time in the 30-year history of the Cougars those two awards have been won by someone from PG.

The league has also named Josh Ravensbergen (with three shutouts) the Rookie of the Month for April.
