UNBC Men’s Basketball adds guard from Salmon Arm

The UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team is adding another guard to the mix.

Head Coach Todd Jordan announced Marcus Nickles has committed to the team for the 2024-25 season and beyond.

Nickles earned Salmon Arm Golds MVP honours this season, averaging 28.1 points per game, as well as 4.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.3 steals.

Nickles attended the Timberwolves Spring ID camp last month.

“The culture and the family type setting that they’ve built made me decide to commit to UNBC,” Nickles said.

“They bring a new approach to winning and I admite how close the team was and they’re all super nice guys and I’m excited to be a part of that.”

Nickles made a strong impression on Coach Jordan at ID Camp, and a number of Jordan’s basketball contacts went out of their way to promote Nickles, including former Timberwolf Charles Barton.

“Charles has raved about Marcus and we are definitely glad we brought him up for a visit,” explained Jordan.

“Marcus shoots the ball extremely well from three, and also has creativity off the dribble.  He showed a steady demeanor on the court, and we believe he has a bright future.  He had a great camp and we are extremely happy he has decided to commit to our program.”
