Prince George playing host to plethora of events this weekend

Prince George will be a busy place with lots of events on the go this weekend.

Colour Walk, MS Walk, and Alzheimer’s Walk

Three different walks will be held on Sunday, starting with the Colour Walk for the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society in the CN Centre parking lot at 10:00 am.

The MS Walk will be held in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park at 11:00 am, and the Alzheimer’s Walk will be held at the YMCA at 1:00 pm.

Northern BC Toy Expo

Vendors will be showcasing a variety of toys, action figures, board games and more at the Roll-A-Dome.

The expo will be open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

PGARA

The Turgeon Memorial begins the PGARA stock car racing season Saturday night starting with time trials at 6:00 followed by the races at 7:00.

Cops for Cancer Pub Night Fundraiser

The Prince George RCMP will be holding a special fundraiser at the Canadian Brewhouse tonight (Friday) to raise funds for Cpl. Meghan Driscoll’s Cops For Cancer Tour de North campaign.

Tickets can be purchased at the Prince George RCMP detachment for $35 each. (Cash only and no change)

Spruce Kings Mega 50/50 Jackpot Draw

The Prince George Spruce Kings will draw their second Mega 50/50 Jackpot at 11:45 am today at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

18,000 tickets were sold, and the jackpot has grown to the maximum of $400,000. (The winner will take home $200,000)

Proceeds will help the Spruce Kings’ expenses for running the hockey club.

Northern Hospitality Festival

The Community Arts Council and Trinity United Church are hosting the festival, which will feature performances from Danny Bell, Grande Maul, Britt AM, Saltwater Hank, Kym Gouchie, Big Fancy and Reckless Burning.

The festival will also include the 48th annual Great Northern Chili Cook-Off, which takes place Saturday afternoon.

Crossroads Summer Street Fest

The first night of the Crossroads Summer Street Fest series takes over 5th and George Street.

The first night of the series features Nice Horse, the Chris Goodwin Band and Patchwork.

Mini Pop Kids Live Show

The Mini Pop Kids will be putting on a performance in Vanier Hall Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

Local dancers from Judy Russel’s Enchainement Dance Centre and Dance Your Hart Out will serve as back up dances in the show.

Cans for Kids Fundraiser for Ness Lake Bible Camp

Ness Lake Bible Camp will be at Nechako Bottle Depot from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday raising funds.

Donations of bottles and cans will be doubled to help send kids to camp.

Prince George Rod and Gun Club 2024 Gun and Sportsman Show

Vendors from across Western Canada will be at the Kin Centres to showcase everything outdoors.

The show is open Friday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Prince George Northern Triathlon

Triathlon Prince George is hosting the triathlon, which is open to all ages.

Athletes (between the ages of 13 and 16) can qualify for the BC Summer Games (for zones 7 and 8) at the event.
