Americans win first of double against the PG Cougars

The Tri-City Americans scored two unanswered goals in the 2nd, despite being outshot 17-6 in that period, as they beat the Prince George Cougars 5-2 before 2,409 fans. First star Evan Sarthou made 31 saves for the 3-1-1 Americans, who tallied twice on the power play. Jesse Gabrielle and Jansen Harkins scored for the 1-3 Cougars. The same teams meet again tonight (Sat) at CN Centre as the Cats continue a 6-game home-stand.

–PG Cougars defenceman Max Martin has been named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge which begins November 1st in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. Martin is currently on the Cougars injured list and is expected to be on the sidelines for a lengthy period of time after he hurt his shoulder in practice.

–The Northern Capitals skated to a 2-2 tie against the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers in the BC Female Midget Triple A Hockey League. The two teams meet again today (Saturday) and Sunday in Vernon. The defending champion Capitals are 2-0-2 on the season.
