PG Cougars earn split against Tri-City Americans

Brad Morrison scored twice and added an assist and a fight for the Gordie Howe hat trick to lead the Prince George Cougars to a 4-1 victory over the Tri-City Americans. Jansen Harkins set up both of the Morrison goals and Chase Witala tallied 79 seconds into the game to give the Cougars big line six points. Ty Edmonds stopped 20 shots for the win before a Saturday night crowd of 2,509. The Americans won the opener of the double 5-2 Friday. The 2-3 Cougars continue their home-stand against the 5-3 Kelowna Rockets Friday and Saturday.

–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars beat the winless North Island Silvertips 2-0 Saturday and 7-2 Sunday in Nanaimo.

–The Northern Capitals shutout the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers 1-0 Saturday in the BC Hockey Female Midget AAA League. The Lakers won the Sunday game 2-1 and the two clubs skated to a 2-2 tie Friday in Vernon.
