PG Sports–From Thanksgiving weekend

The Prince George Cougars are 2-3 at the five game mark following a split against the Tri-City Americans. The Cougars followed a 5-2 loss with a 4-1 victory. Brad Morrison notched two goals, an assist and a fight in the win. The Cougars host the Kelowna Rockets Friday and Saturday before concluding the six game homestand Oct 20th and 21st against the Calgary Hitmen.

–Thanks to outstanding goaltending from Liam McCloskey, the Prince George Spruce Kings have won two straight. The Spruce Kings began a road trip with a 7-3 loss in Trail but came back to post a 4-3 victory in both Vernon and Salmon Arm. McCloskey blocked 46 shots against the Vipers and another 37 against the Silverbacks. The 3-7-1 Spruce Kings visit Merritt Thursday, Penticton Friday and West Kelowna Saturday.

–The Cariboo Cougars are above .500 at 4-3-1 following a pair of victories in Nanaimo against the winless North Island Silvertips 2-0 and 7-2. The Major Midget Cougars are on the road again Saturday and Sunday in Kamloops against the Thompson Blazers.

–The Northern Capitals went 1-1-1 against the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers in the BC Female Midget League as the Caps had a 2-2 tie, 1-0 victory and 2-1 loss in Vernon. The 3-1-2 Northern Capitals have home games against the Greater Vancouver Comets Oct 23 at 6:45pm at Kin 1, Oct 24 at 4:30pm at Kin 1 and Oct 25 at 8:15am at CN Centre.

–Prince George Farr Fabricating lost 6-3 to Semiahmoo in the quarter-finals of the Seafair Bantam hockey tournament in Richmond. PG Farr Fabricating posted a 1-1-1 record in round robin play.

–The UNBC Timberwolves remain winless in Canada West Soccer. The 0-7-3 Lady T-Wolves dropped a pair in Edmonton to the University of Alberta 4-0 and 1-0. The UNBC women will visit the U of Saskatchewan Saturday and Regina Sunday before completing their season at UBCO Oct 24 and TRU Oct 25.

–The 1-7 UNBC men’s soccer team resumes league play at TWU Friday and Saturday and wraps up the season at TRU Oct 24 and 25.

–The Prince George Ringette U16 All Rhodes Pilot service/Hart Modular Homes team earned the silver medal at the Turkey Ring tournament in St. Albert Alberta. PG lost the final 8-1 to Medicine Hat to end up with an overall 3-2 record, including 2-1 in the round robin. Also in St. Albert, the Prince George Ringette U12 team finished 0-3.
