The Prince George Cougars have sent 20-year-old goalie Mack Shields to the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Shields became expendable after the Cats acquired 18-year-old net-minder Nick McBride from the Prince Albert Raiders last week for a 2nd round Bantam pick.
In just eight games with the Cougars, Shields compiled a 3-3 record with a 3.29 goals-against-average and an .880 save percentage to go along with one shutout.
The Cougars roster sits at 24 players: Two goaltenders, nine defencemen and 13 forwards.
The trade leaves the Cats with a vacant 20-year-old roster spot.
