PG to get a bit more snow before significant temperature drop next week

It’s beginning to look a lot like winter in Prince George, starting the weekend off with a good dump of snow.

Environment Canada said the city saw between 3 to 5 centimetres of snow yesterday (Friday), and is expected to continue through the weekend.

However, Meteorologist Nan Lu said Sunday should see less snow, and even a potential of rain.

“There is another system that will brush through the Central Interior region.”

“That could bring some more flurries, but then depending on the temperature, there could also be rain showers.”

Lu noted that PG will only get a chance of snow starting Monday, with the snow being primarily up north.

By mid week, temperatures are forecast to drop significantly around 10 degrees below seasonal, which looks to last until Friday.

Lu said there’s some uncertainty when it comes to next weekend, and can’t say for certain if this cold trend will last.

The seasonal daytime high for this time of year is -3 degrees.

More information on the forecast can be found on Environment Canada’s website here.
