Road maintenance work causing minor delays on Highway 97 north of Quesnel

Road work has a section of Highway 97 between Prince George and Quesnel experiencing minor delays.

A hole has reportedly appeared on the road, roughly 20 kilometres north of Quesnel, in the Hush Lake area.

On Friday, Encom believed the hole to have been caused by a 50 to 60-year-old culvert that had rusted out. However, that has turned out not to be the case.

An Emcon spokesperson says they are not quite sure what the reason is that caused the hole in a portion of the highway in the Hush Lake area, around 20 kilometres north of Quesnel.

Emcon says crews have stabilized that section of the highway, and the lane is open to use through the weekend. With updates pending as technical crews investigate the cause.
