Areas to the west of Prince George, including the Omineca and Lakes Regions are under a high streamflow advisory.
According to the BC River Forecast Centre, an extended period of high pressure is bringing seasonally hot temperatures across B.C., with daily high’s in the northern interior expected to remain in the low-to-mid 20’s this week.
They say snowmelts observed at Automated Snow Weather Stations in the region have been in the 15 to 30 millimetre range over the past few days, and are expected to accelerate and remain elevated through mid-week.
Rivers have been rising in response to hot temperatures and snowmelt.
The BC River Forecast Centre said several real-time monitoring locations are flowing near or at a mean annual peak flow level.
Rises in river throughout the region could reach the two-year to five-year flow this week.
