Prince George City Council will discuss a rezoning amendment that could bring 45 more units of housing to Prince George.
According to a staff report to Council, the applicant , M’akola Development Services on behalf of the Aboriginal Housing Society of Prince George, is proposing a 45-unit, six storey residential development at 1794 Redwood Street.
The subject property would be a consolidation of several previous single-family lots, and is currently developed with a single-family dwelling that will be demolished to accommodate the proposed apartment use.
Additionally, a servicing brief from L&M Engineering identifies the property will require a watermain upgrade, a new fire hydrant, and new sanitary service.
“These improvements along with a more detailed design brief will be required at later stages should this application be approved,” the staff report states.
The report also says the applicant has agreed to enter into a Development Agreement to ensure no building permit is granted prior to the required services being completed.
The Development Agreement will also contain a clause for the reverting of the zone should requirements be unfulfilled.
Final reading and adoption of the rezoning amendment would be withheld until the Development Agreement has been submitted to the satisfaction of City Administration.
Other items to be discussed at tomorrow’s meeting includes increased parking at Harry Loder Park, and a request for advocacy from the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society.
