10) Bobtail Lake Wildfire

The Little Bobtail Lake wildfire was discovered on May 9th about 2.5km south of Norman Lake, 50 km southwest of Prince George. Hot weather and dry conditions caused the fire to grow quickly, eventually grew to over 25,000 hectares. It forced the evacuation of about 80 people and recreational properties. Luckily, no structures were lost to the blaze.

9) Camera Thieves

The Prince George RCMP got a good look at a pair of thieves who were stealing surveillance cameras from motel on 20th Ave.

8) Homeless Discover Dinosaur Workers

My PG Now revealed that a group of local homeless people were being paid below minimum wage to staff a travelling event which stopped at the CN Centre. They were also having trouble getting paid at all. After the story went public, the employment agency was dropped by the concert promoter and the men were paid minimum wage.

7) Charges laid in Vanderhoof Double Homicide

Charges were announced against a pair of men for the 2013 Vanderhoof double homicide of Blaine Barefoot and Tara Lee Ann Williams.

6) Vanderhoof Lottery Winners

Sahel Sobohani and Deanna Kyncl of Vanderhoof struck gold and won $1 million on the Lotto 649. The pair have since opened a restaurant on Cluculz Lake; “The Cabin”

5) Ahbau Street Lockdown

A police raid on Ahbau Street left the neighborhood locked down for part of the day. A loaded SKS rifle, two live pipe bombs and bomb building materials were found during a search on a home.

4) Carson Air 66

Carson Air Flight 66 went missing shortly after takeoff from Vancouver on it’s way to Prince George. The final report on the crash is yet to be released, but it was revealed that the pilot was drunk at the time of crash.

3 ) A new name for Fort George Park

Councillor Murry Krause polarized Prince George by proposing the City re-name Fort George Park. The city voted to move forward with the name change, ‘Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park’ on June 15th in time for National Aboriginal Day on June 21st.

2) Local Mother turned away at Esther’s Inn

A facebook post by a local women went viral across the country after she was refused service at a Prince George hotel for ‘being a local.’

1) Murder of Jordan McLeod

24 year old Jordan McLeod was last seen on January 16th. Police then linked him to a ‘shot fired call’ in the city and found his vehicle shortly afterwards. His remains were found on Feburary 22nd by a man walking his dog on the Kaykay Forest Service Road. Murder charges were laid against three men in August.

The College of New Caledonia is still on the prowl for poop. Bear poop, that is. Researchers at the College have been collecting the feces to study the samples, with the main goal of seeing what's going on with the bears in Prince George, and potentially mitigate conflicts with bears.

The Prince George Cougars thanked the City's Community Heroes with a 3-2 win over the Tri-City Americans last night. (Saturday)The Cougars had their biggest crowd of the season so far last night, with 5,789 fans piling into the CN Centre for the first game of Community Heroes Weekend.
