The B.C. RCMP, along with the Yukon RCMP, have launched a new recruiting process allowing applications from the province and territory to be processed from home.
The new process, called Project Red Serge, moves key early screening tools, such as the Physical Fitness Assessment and indices checks earlier in the process.
It also encourages greater communication between recruiters and applicants, and is expected to improve application processing times.
The RCMP can’t guarantee recruits will be coming back to Prince George directly, but they’re currently promoting a Northern Recruiting Initiative, aimed at bringing more recruits to Northern B.C.
Police say applicants interested in returning to Northern B.C. will be guaranteed a place in the region.
An information session will be held at the Prince George RCMP detachment, located at 455 Victoria Street, tomorrow (Tuesday) from 2-4 p.m.
According to the RCMP, the minimum qualification are to be a Canadian Citizen or have three years’ Permanent Resident Status, be at least 18-years-old, proficient in English or French; have a valid, unrestricted Canadian driver’s licence; and possessing a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent.
