The Vanderhoof International Airshow is gearing up for this weekend’s event, celebrating the District’s centennial.
This year will see some new additions for those attending, including a tethered hot air balloon ride, a jet car, the dauntless dive bomber which flew in the second World War, and more.
Director Paul Collard said getting an event like this off the ground takes an immense amount of work.
“We’ve committed the last little while to doing a show every two years, and a very small community event on the off years.”
“It just takes a huge amount of work from dedicated volunteers. I have no idea why people do this, because it’s so much work, but when you see the people coming into the grounds and enjoying themselves, it all seems to be worthwhile.”
For this year’s event, Collard said they’re anticipating as many as 5,000 people in attendance.
The Airshow takes place at the Vanderhoof Municipal Airport on Saturday, at 8:00 a.m., to Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
