All 13 fires currently burning in the Prince George Fire Centre are less than 100 hectares in size.
This as cooler conditions with light winds and rain are being forecast ahead of the August long weekend.
Fire Information Officer, Sarah Frigon told Vista Radio they are lending resources to other areas that need further assistance.
“Our Paraattack crews have been deployed to the Kamloops Fire Centre with a fixed-wing air craft commonly referred to as Jump Ship and we have been able to aid in their initial attack response with the recent increase in fire activity.”
She added while the wildfire situation locally is in a good place, now is not the time to get careless.
“While there are no longer prohibitions in the Prince George Fire Centre, we continue to urge the public to be careful and check with local authorities before lightning a fire of any size.”
Category 2 and 3 fire bans are being lifted as of noon today (Thursday) within the Stuart-Nechako Forest District, which includes the Vanderhoof and Fort Saint James fire zones.
Province-wide, there are 129 active blazes in B.C. – four of which are of note including the Pear Lake Wildfire in the Cariboo which is 73,217 hectares in size and has led to four Evacuation Alerts and six Evacuation Orders.
Currently, there are 1,027 firefighting personnel on the ground along with five incident management teams. One hundred and sixty-seven aviation helicopters, 145 pieces of heavy equipment and 310 structure protection personnel are also on-site in B.C.
