The annual Big Squeeze fundraiser put on by Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northern BC last month raised $5500.
Executive Director, Jill Styan explained to MyPGNow.com what makes lemonade a fun way to fund raise.
“I think it is the charm of a lemonade stand. It’s simple, easy and it provides a little fun, mid-week, mid-summer and it’s a long standing event for the community.”
“Shoutout to our stands and businesses who took part this year. We were a little bit low in enrolment so the fact we were able to average out, we are pleasantly surprised. We had four businesses and four stands.”
The money raised will support the agencies mentoring programs to better assist the youth that they serve.
“This year’s tally is about average. We made a little bit more last year and a little bit less the year before that.”
Groups that took part included the Prince George Chamber of Commerce and the PG Community Foundation.
Community spots like The Open Door Cafe, Imperial City Brew House, Central Builders, and others set up individual sales or menus where proceeds went straight to the cause.
