Prince George shatters municipal advance voting record on Wednesday

Prince George residents are taking full advantage of casting an early ballot for Saturday’s municipal election.

According to city officials, a new single-day record was set yesterday (Wednesday) with 1,592 ballots cast – smashing the previous high of 1,176 set last week.

Reported wait times for voting varied between 35 minutes to an hour on Wednesday.

The city says high demand is the reason for the long lines, and some extra resources have been added for today (Thursday) to make the process smoother.

The final day of advanced voting takes place until 8:00 tonight (Thursday) at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.

General voting day is Saturday with BC Transit offering free bus service for those wanting to cast a ballot.
