Spruce Kings come out on top in chippy game against the Rivermen

The Prince George Spruce Kings pick up their second straight win with a 5-1 victory over the hosting Langley Rivermen, in front of 936 fans.

P.G.’s Dominic Szczygiel would score his second goal in two games just 3:52 in, with Rhett Tubello following up with a goal of his own at 6:50.

Things would heat up in the second period, as both teams would combine for 45 penalty minutes and a game misconduct.

That wouldn’t stop the Spruce Kings for netting three more, as the game’s first star Charlie Spencer would score two at 10:53 and 17:57, and Szczygiel picking up his second of the game at 15:55.

Szczygiel’s and Spencer’s second goal would come on the power play.

Langley’s Cohen Massey would score the only goal in the third period, which would also come on the power play.

Cody Arnold would stop 34 of 35 shots for the Spruce Kings, with his team putting up 30.

The (7-3) Spruce Kings continue their road trip in Cowichan Valley, when they face the (5-7) Capitals on Thursday night at 7:00.
