Quesnel resident wins $46 million Lotto Jackpot

A Quesnel resident has become a multi-millionaire.

The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20, that Richard Z. has claimed a $46 million Lotto 6/49 Jackpot after discovering he held the winning ticket from the Dec. 20, 2025 draw.

Richard Z. said he checked his ticket after seeing that the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot ticket had been purchased in Quesnel. After checking the BCLC’s website, he realized that he might’ve had the winning ticket.

He said the first person he shared the golden news with was his wife.

“At first, there were tears of joy. It was overwhelming!” Richard Z. said.

With his winnings, he says that he plans on going traveling.

“My wife and I want to do some travelling, and I want to see the pyramids. We want to experience and enjoy stress-free trips”

Richard Z. says he and his wife want to “keep live the life [they] live now” and keep things simple.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Billy Barker Casino in Quesnel. Z. completed his prize claim at the BCLC Kamloops office on Oct. 16.
