Three newly painted crosswalks have officially completed, commemorating Prince George’s military history and remembering the service and sacrifice of those in the military.
The Lest We Forget Committee and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 made the announcement, with the three located on Ospika Boulevard, George Street, and Dagg Road.
Legion 43 President Ken Pendergast said the one on Ospika has significance dating back to the 1940’s.
“That entire area was part of the training facility that the army used during the second world war, something in the order of 10,000 Canadian army troops training at any given time in that geographic area.”
Pendergast added the George Street location was to be close to the cenotaph, with Dagg Road being steps away from the “Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park”, named after the late Corporal from the Hart who passed away on March 20th, 2010, after sustaining injuries during a foot patrol in Afghanistan.
The community is invited to attend Legion Branch 43’s ceremony unveiling the crosswalk on Dagg Creek on Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
