Spruce Kings extend win streak with 2-1 victory over Cowichan Valley

The Prince George Spruce Kings had themselves a back and forth game with the hosting Cowichan Valley Capitals, ultimately coming out with a 2-1 victory in front of 1431 fans.

It was a fairly quiet first period outside of four minute power play for Prince George that would be wiped by a penalty of their own, but the game’s first star Max Mahoney would find the back of the net with three seconds left, giving the Spruce Kings the lead to start the second period.

Cowichan Valley would take three penalties within the first 2:47 of the second, but would still nab a goal of their own from Kole Keen  at 5:59, with P.G. unable to light the lamp.

Spruce King’s Adam Crosby would get the game winner 8:08 into the third period.

Cody Arnold, who was awarded the game’s third star, would stop 26 of 27 shots from the Capitals, with the Spruce Kings putting up 20.

The (8-3) Spruce Kings, now tied for the top spot in the the Costal East division, continue their road trip in Vancouver Island on Saturday night, as they face off with the (6-4) Alberni Valley Bulldogs at 6:00.
