Bounaaja cranks up the Heat as T-Wolves romp UBCO in men’s soccer season finale

In an end-of-season game, the Timberwolves got the better of the UBCO Heat by a country mile.

Specifically, Mehdi Bounaaja.

The fleet-footed forward for the Timberwolves set the Heat and the Masich Place Stadium field-turf on fire Sunday with a Canada West single-game scoring record notching two goals and four assists in a 6-0 blowout win to cap off the 2026 regular season.

Bounaaja’s offensive fireworks began in the 13th minute as he fed graduating senior and Dutch import Pip van der Ende who slipped past a would-be tackling defender and blasted a shot past UBCO netminder Ronan Woodroofe.

Four minutes later, van der Ende returned the favour to Bounaaja who was sprung on a splitting the backline of the Heat with his blistering speed, firing a shot past Woodroofe that pinged off the back bar and rippled the onion bag.

The Surrey product’s mastery was far from finished in the first half. This time, Bounaaja set up Charlie Beauvais who netted his first Canada West goal to make it 3-nil in the 27th minute.

To add insult to injury, Bounaaja’s offensive prowess, set up another graduate in Adam Korduner who accepted a cross-box pass in stride, heading it into a yawning cage.

The duo clicked once more in the second half. This time Bounaaja zipped down the far sideline to find Korduner in a favorable matchup, beating Heat goalie Jake Beresford.

Bounaaja capped off his six-point performance with his second goal from Luis Beck.

Owen Shum picked up a clean sheet inside the UNBC crease.

UNBC ends the regular season with a record of 3-7-6 while the UBCO drops to 0-15.

On Friday, the T-Wolves dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to the Victoria Vikes.

Wesley Jones collected his fourth of the season via a pass from Jack Napier-Ganley.

Callum Cuthbert made five saves in defeat while Callum Weir was credited with a one-save shutout for Victoria.
