PG Posse eyeing spot in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League

Go east young man.

That might become the reality for the Prince George Posse Junior B Lacrosse program.

According to Inside Lacrosse writer Dawson Nielsen, the Posse submitted an application to join the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League’s Junior B Tier 1 Division.

If approved, British Columbia would become the fourth province represented under the league’s umbrella, joining Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.

In a text exchange with MyPGNow.com, Posse general manager Jaime Bellamy confirmed the local program is meeting with the RMLL next weekend to go over everything including its pitch and then have league members vote on their application.

The planning meeting is scheduled for November 14th.

If given the green light, the Posse would compete against all the Alberta junior programs.

The North Division consists of teams in Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Red Deer and Blackfalds (near Red Deer) while the South Division is made up of teams in the Calgary-Okotoks corridor.

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League has nine division ranging from Senior B to Alberta Major Female.

Bellamy also confirmed the Posse were sent an amended expansion package from the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League stating the application process has changed.

The Posse’s management group has sent in further question to league officials and are awaiting a response before sending in an updated application.

In July, the Posse were barred from competing in the BC Junior B Tier 1 Lacrosse Provincials in Kamloops after being told they were previously eligible.

The last-minute decision went against a July 7th ruling by the governing body’s Appeal Panel which indicated the Posse would indeed be eligible to challenge the B1 provincial title.

The BC Lacrosse Association provided a statement to MyPGNow.com where it mentioned the only path to provincials was to play in a recognized league.

The governing body said the Posse unsuccessfully applied to join the Thompson-Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League in 2026.

League officials cited concerns about additional travel costs, and a final decision was made to allow the Posse to visit for exhibition games.

The club was directed to re-apply for full membership for 2027.
