Skate park now open in the Hart

The neighbourhood event of the season took place at Corporal Derek Fitzpatrick Bravery Park in the Hart today when the skate park was officially opened.

“This is fantastic. This is a long time coming up on the Hart. We raised our three kids – they grew up on the Hart Highway – and I can only imagine if they’d had this then. But all these young people have it now. I’m just glad it got here before my grandkids did.”

She says credit for the facility goes to the community.

“It’s Rotary and the community association. It’s businesses and its citizens. Everybody came together.”

The Hart Community Association raised money for the last minute installation of sod around the skate are and donations came in from the Nechako Rotary Club, Tim Hortons and Hart Drugs to name a few.

As soon as the banner was removed and the crowd cleared, the ramps and rails were in use.
