Vehicle theft leads to police chase and three arrests

The Prince George RCMP arrested three men on Wednesday after a GMC truck with a dirt bike in the back was stolen from a resident on Saunderson Rd. early on Tuesday morning.

At about 2:00 pm on Wednesday, a man was arrested riding the stolen dirt bike on the east side of the Yellowhead Bridge on Highway 16. Devon Albert Olson is a 28 year old Prince George resident who is well known to police. He is facing two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of body armour without a permit.

Later that same afternoon, the stolen truck was seen on 12th Ave. near Harper St.

“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver of the stolen truck rammed a police vehicle and fled the scene,” says RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass. “A few minutes later, the two occupants abandoned the truck in an alley between Allard St. and Wainwright St. and fled on foot.”

The resulting chase involved multiple police officers.

“Significant police resources including a police dog service team were in the area immediately and subsequently tracked the two suspects over fences and through residential yards until they were arrested without incident.”

The driver of the truck, 24 year old Garth Andrew Lee of Prince George, is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and driving while prohibited.

“Lee is well known to police and has a recent conviction of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and is currently prohibited from driving because of that.”

22 year old Tyler James Edgars was also arrested and is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime.

The three men were held overnight and will make their first appearance in court today.
