Prince George City Council gathers for rare mid-week meeting

Council meets on an irregularly scheduled Wednesday.

The night will begin by handing out 6  Citizens of the Year awards, which recognize their contributions to local women s groups, local heritage committees, and Ancient Forest among others.

A Ministry of Transportation report about proposed highway 16 transit will be discussed.

It s proposing a service between here and Prince Rupert, focusing on daily trips between Prince George and Burns Lake.

The city has also been assessing our public facilities. 14 of the 17 listed are considered in  good condition like the CN Centre and the Hart Firehall.

The one in need of the most work is the Exhibition Sports Centre.

Proposed repairs for things like foundation cracks and roof issues could cost 1.9 million dollars.

The meeting begins a 6PM from the Council Chambers.
