A back and forth game did not go the way of the Prince George Spruce Kings on Thursday.
Surrey Eagles upset the visitors 2-1 in double overtime.
Chong Lee opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings 5:23 into the opening frame put Prince George up 1-0.
It didn’t take long for the Eagles to respond as Darius Davidson potted his 12th of the campaign sliding home a Desi Burgart feed evening the score at 1 after 20 minutes.
A back and forth final 40 minutes resulted in nothing but a number of saves from Prince George goalkeeper Tavin Grant who made 47 saves in the contest.
The game-winning goal would not come until 2:03 of double-overtime when Nick Minerva slipped home another feed from Burgart putting the Eagles in the win column.
Surrey outshot Prince George 49-34.
The Spruce Kings remain 5 points up on the Eagles for 3rd in the Mainland Division with one game in hand.
Coquitlam Express host the Spruce Kings on Friday.
