Cariboo Cougars sweep Giants following back and forth 6-4 victory

The Vancouver NW Giants cannot solve the riddle that is the Cariboo Cougars.

On Sunday, the Cougars completed a weekend sweep at Kin 1 following 6-4 victory thanks to the three point efforts from Trey Thomas and Devin Sutton.

Cariboo jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after the first thanks to goals from Sutton and Jeremy Gervais while Mackenzie Gray replied for the Giants.

Both teams traded goals in the second off the sticks of Mason Richey for Cariboo and Logan Daoust putting VNW within one for the second straight period.

Things opened up in third with a barrage of goals being scored at both ends.

Cariboo first netted three unanswered taking a commanding 6-2 lead from Thomas, Riley Krane, and Jarin Sutton.

VNW wouldn’t go away quietly however as Zach Bolton and Trevor Longo made the score more respectable.

MYPGNOW caught up with Thomas after the game and says it was a lunch-bucket type weekend. “Everyone just came to work this weekend knowing we needed to get some wins this to stay on top of Okanagan, the Giants came out hard and we
just played good.”

Cariboo heads to the Okanagan next weekend to face the Rockets at the Capital News Centre in Kelowna.
