Vanderhoof Hockey gets $26,000 grant

Vanderhoof’s Minor Hockey Association has some extra coin to pay for its ice. The group has received just over $26,000 from the provincial government in gaming grants. Association President Lee Holland says the grant will go towards their ice fees.

“Our ice bill is about $45-50,000 a year,” says Holland, “and we access the grant to help reduce and keep costs low for parents.”

Holland says they have not raised their registration fees in the past three years. She says they get the remainder of their ice fees through community sponsorships.
