Cougars roar back with sweep of the Royals

The Cariboo Cougars responded in a big way with a weekend sweep of the South Island Royals in Richmond.

On Sunday, Daine Dubois and affiliate player Corey Cunningham both potted three point games during a 5-2 thrashing over the Royals.

Trey Thomas, Myles Mattila, Devin Sutton and Ty Kolle along with Dubois all lit the lamp for Cariboo while Zack Wickson made 29 saves during the win.

Cunningham posted a three-assist effort.

In game one on Saturday, Brennan Malgunas paced Cariboo with a two goal effort in a dominant 7-1 over the Royals.

Mason Richey led the Cougars in points with five.

Daine Dubois, Corey Cunningham, Joel Patsey, Richey and Reid Perepeluk notched markers from the Cats.

Cariboo goaltender Marcus Allen posted an easy 16 save victory.

The Thompson Blazers make the trek to Prince George next weekend to play the Cougars on Saturday and Sunday from Kin 1.

Cariboo enjoys a six point lead over the second place Vancouver NE Chiefs although the Chiefs have two games in hand.
