Spruce Kings mauled by Grizzlies in first loss of the season

The Spruce Kings met their match Saturday afternoon, losing their first game of the season by a score of 5-0 to the Victoria Grizzlies.

Prince George’s win streak ends at four games, dropping their current record to 4-1-1-0 and leaving the 2017 BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack, 1-1.

Goaltender Evan DeBrouwer made 17 saves on 21 shots in his first loss of the year, while Victoria’s Zachary Rose stopped all 41 attempts from the designated home team.

The Spruce Kings are now tied for the top of the BCHL, nine points, with Vernon, Powell River, and Nanaimo.

They’re next game goes for Friday night in Surrey, 7PM against the Eagles for third time this season.
