The Kelowna Rockets scored five goals on the power play and added two more shorthanded as they crushed the Prince George Cougars 8-2 before 2,581 fans at CN Centre. The 3-0 Rockets outscored the Cats 15-4 in sweeping the doubleheader. The 1-3 Cougars conclude a 3-game homestand Tuesday against 2-2 Swift Current.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings lost for the first time this seaason 3-2 to the Coquitlam Express. Colton Kerfoot scored the winner with just 20 seconds left in the 3rd period. The 3-1 Spruce Kings play another road game today (Sunday) in Surrey.

–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars are 3-0 after a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver North East Chiefs in the first of a doubleheader on the Lower Mainland.

–The UNBC Timberwolves lost at home to the University of Victoria Vikes in Canada West Soccer. Victoria beat the UNBC men 1-0 and the Vikes whipped the Lady
Timberwolves 5-0. The teams meet again today (Sunday) at the Prince George Rotary Fields at noon and 2:15.

–In high school football: the Kelly Road varsity team beat College Heights 42-14 but in junior varsity play Duchess Park trounced Kelly Road 40-6.

–College Heights cross-Country runners enjoyed success in the first race of the high school season at Cottonwood Island Park. Isaac Goodrich finished 1st among Sr. Boys and Julia Babicz placed 2nd among Sr. Girls.
