Members of the Prince George RCMP spent their Sunday bringing in food and money donations for the Prince George Council of Seniors.
“Helping needy seniors, ones that can’t necessarily afford food,” explains Corporal Craig Douglass.
“As long as I’ve been at the detachment, we’ve always stepped up on something for them at this time of the year; it’s such a worthwhile cause, these are people that are in need and especially around the holiday season.”
Police parked in front of three local Save-On Foods stores for six hours for the second annual Pack-A-PC event.
This year’s Pack-A-PC brought in over 22 police cars worth of food, passing last year’s total of 20.
It also topped last year’s monetary value by over $400 with $4,000 worth of cash and gift cards being donated.
“It never ceases to amaze me, just the generosity; there were people didn’t know of the event who went the store to pick up a couple things, took a list, grabbed a shopping cart, came out with the shopping cart full of food, and then would pick out one bag that they came for and left the shopping cart full of food.”
Today, RCMP representatives and John McInnes Centre students delivered a cube van full of non-perishable food, and the cash and gift cards, to the Council of Seniors.
