Sani-dump a no-go as council votes against

Monday’s regular council meeting saw the sani-dump on Quinn Street and 18th Avenue denied a reopening.

The original idea to re-visit the sani-dump was brought up last month.

One councillor who voted in favour of the sani-dump was Councillor Murry Krause.

“There are people who would like to have access to something very central to be able to dump their tanks from their recreational vehicle and so that’s just one more service we could be offering.”

Concerns ran much deeper than just whether or not the sani-dump would be worth reopening.

“A report came back indicating that that was the perfect site to move the saltworks to that location,” explains Krause.

“That would also mean, though, the closing of the recycling depot in that area.”

Council ultimately decided to not reopen the sani-dump.

The final vote was 4-3 against.
