Highway 97 south of Prince George opens to single alternating following fatal crash

Highway 97 south of Prince George re-opened to single lane alternating traffic.

The Prince George RCMP and North District Traffic Services responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 just south of Prince George.

The incident involved a passenger car and a pick-up truck on the highway and Damms Road.

One person was pronounced dead while another was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police and emergency crews remain on scene and the roads were ice covered and snow packed at the time of the collision.

The highway has been closed to all traffic at this time and a detour has been set up around the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call the North District RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

It’s a bad start to the weekend for drivers heading on our local highways.

The North District RCMP responded to a fatal collision this morning just after 7 AM.

“There is a two-vehicle crash that has closed Highway 97 south near the Damms Road and Buckhorn intersection, we do know that one person is dead as a result of this crash,” says Madonna Saunderson, North District RCMP.
