Prince George fire crews respond to pair of blazes hours apart

It was a hectic few hours for Prince George Fire Fighters after they responded a pair of fires between Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to a possible structure fire on the 1900 block of Strathcona Avenue.

Just after 7PM, three halls found a two-story apartment complex with light smoke coming from one of the units.

According to the fire crews, a wooden box was attached to the exterior wall and was being utilized as an ashtray.

The box was extinguished quickly and no structural damage was done to the building.

A few hours later, local firefighters attended a semi-truck blaze just after midnight.

A Peterbuilt tractor was fully engulfed when crews arrived on scene in the 2100 block of Ogilvie Street.

The fire was extinguished but the tractor unit was completely destroyed.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

The file has since been turned over to the Prince George RCMP and has been deemed suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (250) 561-3300, or Crime-Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
