Businesses across BC and Canada can now apply for funding from the federal government for skills training.
The newly created Canada Jobs Grant is now taking applications for the cost-sharing program.
Jobs Minister Shirley Bond says this helps offset the cost of training new and current employees.
“There was a very significant discussion with the federal government about how this program was going to be designed,” says Bond, “but the basic principal behind it is that we need employers to engage in training with us, there needs to be a significant participation by employers across the province.”
Bond says employers can receive up to two-thirds the cost of training to a maximum of $10,000.
She says the small business aspect of the grant is still being worked out.
