Joel Ewert and Avril Harris of Prince George are among 12 athletes selected to represent Team BC in wheelchair basketball at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. The players were chosen following a camp in P.G. last month. The team will compete at the Games from Feb. 14th to Feb. 19th.

–The 10-8 Prince George Cougars host the Victoria Royals Friday and Saturday. The Cougars, Royals and Kamloops Blazers are tied for second in the WHL BC Division.

–Jansen Harkins, Chase Witala and Jari Ericcson of the PG Cougars are all in the WHL top 30 of scoring. Harkins is 13th (4 goals and 17 assists), Witala is 24th (8 G and 10A) and Ericcson is 30th (10 G and 7 A). Witala will serve a two-game suspension this weekend.

–The BCHL Mainland Division leading Prince George Spruce Kings play three road games against the Interior Division starting Friday in Trail. The Spruce Kings also visit Merritt Saturday and West Kelowna Sunday afternoon.

-–Spruce Kings sniper Justin Rai is 4th in BCHL scoring with 24 points, including 11 goals. Former Prince George minor hockey product, Liam Blackburn of the West Kelowna Warriors, leads with 33 points (9 goals, 24 assists). Jeremiah Luedtke of the Spruce Kings is 9th with 23 points (6 goals, 17 assists) while Chad Staley of PG (11 goals, 10 assists) is 12th with 21 points.

-–The 11-2-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars host the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon at 12:45 and Sunday afternoon at 1:15 at CN Centre.

–The Bruisers lead the P.G. Open Ball Hockey League with a 4-0 record after a pair of wins; 7-1 over Blue Collar Crew and 6-2 over College Heights Dental. Shaw Cable is 3-1 after they split a pair against Excel Painting, an 8-5 win and an 11-5 loss. Excel is 2-2. Blue Collar is 1-3 with its lone win 3-1 over College Heights Dental. CH Dental is 0-4.

–In the P.G. Masters Ball Hockey League, Cap-abilities outscored the Pizza Hut Slicers 7-0 and 8-4 to improve its record to 4-0. Pizza Hut is second at 2-2
while both Summit Insurance and Alison’s Predators sit 1-3. Summit and Alison’s split a pair of 6-4 decisions.
