WATCH: City sets up dikes as evacuation alert is issued for Farrell Street

WATCH:

Residents in 18 homes on Farrell Street are under an evacuation alert due to a risk of flooding.

Crews have installed gabion dikes along the road, which is the lowest point along the Fraser River in the City.

“[If order is given] … a reception centre will be set up and people will have the opportunity, if they need it, to receive additional support from the city and the province until the issue subsides.”

– Prince George Deputy Fire Chief Cliff Warner

The water is nearing the nine-metre mark and the BC River Forecast Centre says the Fraser could start flooding this weekend.
